Two women in a rural community in India are able to walk right outside of their homes to get clean water whenever they need it, thanks to a trained local mechanic who fixes the well and maintains it regularly.

Clean water is essential for good health, as it is used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and washing. Access to clean water also increases efficiency and productivity for many people and helps boost local economies.

Create jobs with an impact: Help us hire 500

Today we launch our most ambitious campaign yet. From now till the end of this month, we want to help create 500 jobs in Uganda. That’s right, 500.

Living Goods wants to hire and train 500 women to become Community Health Promoters next year. It’s ambitious, revolutionary and inspiring. And we love it.

It costs $162 to help create one job. $162 for health care classes, a new uniform and tote bag. The tools for a woman to start her own successful micro-enterprise, and provide essential medicine to 700 people in her village.

This is the opportunity for us to serve others, on a massive scale. If you can, please make a donation. Or, join us in fundraising (imagine if 100 of us set a goal of hiring 5 women). Spread the word to friends. Join us on Facebook. We only have a few weeks, and can’t do it without you. We want to crush our goal. And next year, bring you stories of the 500 women you helped - along with the stories of the 350,000 people they will be keeping healthy.

350 million children around the world grow up without ever seeing a health care worker. It’s time for a change.
